PRN Pharmacist - Home Infusion

Our client is a locally owned specialty infusion pharmacy providing personalized home infusion and in-suite infusion therapy services throughout the greater Chicago area. The company partners with patients, physicians, and insurance providers to deliver high-quality care for complex conditions, including immunodeficiency disorders, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, rheumatologic conditions, and other chronic illnesses.

Salary:
$55-$80/hour, based on experience.

Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a PRN or Part-Time Pharmacist to support home infusion pharmacy operations at its Orland Park, IL location. This role will assist the Pharmacist-in-Charge with clinical review, sterile compounding oversight, prescription verification, patient care coordination, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has experience in home infusion, specialty pharmacy, hospital infusion, or sterile compounding and is comfortable working in a growing, hands-on pharmacy environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Review and verify infusion prescriptions, medication orders, laboratory results, and patient-specific therapy information.
• Perform clinical assessments including dosage verification, compatibility, stability, drug interactions, and therapy appropriateness.
• Verify compounded sterile preparations, calculations, labels, ingredients, and final products before release.
• Provide pharmacist oversight of sterile compounding activities while ensuring compliance with USP standards and pharmacy regulations.
• Counsel patients, caregivers, nurses, and providers regarding medications, administration, storage, and therapy expectations.
• Document clinical interventions, communications, and pharmacist activities accurately.
• Support pharmacy workflow, including prescription verification, staffing coordination, inventory management, and problem resolution.
• Assist with patient onboarding, referrals, prior authorizations, insurance questions, and coordination with healthcare providers.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, referral partners, and internal teams regarding patient care and therapy needs.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, regulatory compliance, and pharmacy growth initiatives.
• Provide additional pharmacist coverage as needed, including vacation, staffing, or increased volume support.

Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted Illinois Pharmacist License.
• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from an accredited program.
• Experience in home infusion, specialty pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, ambulatory infusion, or complex pharmacy settings.
• Knowledge of sterile compounding and USP standards.
• Ability to review and verify compounded sterile preparations.
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
• Experience with infusion therapies such as parenteral nutrition, anti-infectives, biologics, hydration, or immunoglobulin preferred.
• Prior pharmacy leadership, management, or Pharmacist-in-Charge experience preferred.
• Must be able to work onsite in Orland Park, IL, and have reliable transportation.
