Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly patients to identify specific emotional and psychological needs, tailoring care strategies accordingly. Provide both individual and group counseling sessions targeting emotional challenges faced by seniors, such as depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders. Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans that align with best practices in geriatric mental health. Educate families and staff on effective strategies to enhance emotional well-being among elderly individuals, ensuring everyone is equipped to support their loved ones or patients effectively. Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for both patients and families, helping them navigate end-of-life concerns with sensitivity and dignity. Implement cognitive stimulation activities and evidence-based mental health interventions to promote mental acuity and resilience in elderly clients. Patient Population / Client Focus You will primarily serve a diverse patient population, focusing on older adults who are experiencing mental health issues exacerbated by environmental, social, or psychological stressors associated with aging. This may include individuals facing chronic illness, loneliness, cognitive decline, or the trauma of losing a loved one. Qualifications A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required. Possession of a valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential. Additional training or specialized certification in geriatric mental health practices is strongly preferred. Preferred Experience Experience in utilizing evidence-based practices specifically tailored for elderly clients. A thorough understanding of ethical and legal standards governing mental health counseling in geriatric practice. Compensation and Benefits The compensation for this role ranges from USD 65,000 to USD 95,000 annually, reflective of your experience and expertise.
