AI and Infrastructure Software Engineer, Virtualization

Drive the development of the virtualization subsystem (VMM, CHV) at Google scale. Drive the development of specialized tooling to support engineering practices within the virtualization and systems programming space.Design and implement automation frameworks for build, CI/CD, and qualification testing specifically tailored for Rust-based VMMs and guest isolation layers.Support the delivery of the virtualization layer across millions of production hosts, ensuring compatibility across product lines and hardware configurations.Build out observability framework to provide transparency into VM health and I/O performance, supporting a more data-driven and efficient release process.Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures and algorithms.2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.2 years of coding experience in C or C++.Experience with Operating Systems and Hypervisor.Preferred qualifications:Experience with virtualization.Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design or expertise in Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance and application issues.Knowledge of CI/CD best practices.Software quality background, and pragmatism to apply it to one of the more complex testing/production qualification contexts Google has.Comfort working in both engineering and operational environments.A predilection to taking on challenges that bridge complex stakeholder contexts and take concerted, long-term goal and investment.Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.
