Traffic Controller/Flagger
Traffic Control Flaggers are responsible for maintaining safe traffic flow through construction, utility, and roadway work zones. Flaggers communicate with motorists, pedestrians, and crew members to ensure a safe working environment while following all traffic control regulations and safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct traffic through construction and work zones using signs, paddles, flags, and hand signals.
- Maintain a safe work environment for crew members, motorists, and pedestrians.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices as directed.
- Monitor traffic conditions and communicate hazards to supervisors and coworkers.
- Follow all company safety policies and state/local traffic control regulations.
- Remain alert and attentive during all shifts.
- Assist with general labor duties when traffic control responsibilities allow.
- Report incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions and safety procedures.
- Traffic Control/Flagger Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Must be able to pass any client-required screenings.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to moving traffic, construction equipment, and uneven terrain.
- Early morning, daytime, overtime, and weekend work may be required.
