SUMMARYThe Housing Coordinator provides critical administrative and operational support to the Housing Advocacy team. Working within a trauma-informed, survivor-centered framework, this role ensures the smooth daily functioning of the department by managing documentation, scheduling, client outreach, and logistical tasks. The primary objective is to alleviate administrative burdens from Housing Advocates, allowing the team to efficiently assist survivors of domestic violence and/or human trafficking in attaining and maintaining safe, stable, and rapid housing.
RESPONSIBILITIESAdministrative & Operations Support
- Scheduling & Logistics: Manage and coordinate the department’s calendar, including scheduling client meetings, case conferences, and team appointments.
- Communications: Handle department call-backs, answer routine inquiries, and route urgent matters to the appropriate Housing Advocate or Manager.
- Financial Processing: Submit rental payment requests and financial assistance documentation for survivors enrolled in Housing and Economic Empowerment programs.
Client & Program Support
- Waitlist Management: Routinely connect with clients on the housing program waiting list to confirm eligibility, update contact details, and assess ongoing needs.
- Enrollment & Intake: Conduct program enrollment meetings and assist clients directly with navigating and completing necessary intake paperwork.
- Rent requests: Submit monthly rent requests for clients receiving rental assistance.
- Referral Follow-Up: Track and follow up on incoming and outgoing client referrals to ensure continuity of care and connection to mainstream services.
Data & Documentation
- File Maintenance: Create, organize, and maintain accurate electronic and physical client charts, ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality guidelines.
- Upload all completed rent request submissions into Jotform and SharePoint.
- Data Entry: Audit and update database records to ensure all client and program data is documented accurately within 48 hours of contact.
- Quality Assurance: Assist with pulling data and preparing compliance reports for HUD, the Connecticut State Department of Housing (DOH), and CCADV as requested.
Training & Professional Development
- Attend relevant housing trainings (CCADV, Housing Collective, etc.) workshops, and weekly housing Case Conference team meetings to remain aligned with best practices.
- Maintain Domestic Violence (DV) certification by completing at least six hours of ongoing in-service training annually.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Language: Fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is preferred.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and a willingness to learn and navigate electronic data systems.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable conducting outreach calls and facilitating paperwork with vulnerable populations.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail in filing, record-keeping, and chart maintenance.
- Professionalism & Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with empathy, discretion, and professionalism within a trauma-informed framework.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree (MSW/MPA) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in housing advocacy, rapid rehousing, or domestic violence services, with at least 1–2 years of demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of HUD/DOH housing programs, Fair Housing laws, Rapid Rehousing standards, and the Connecticut Coordinated Access Network (CAN) framework.
- Skills: Proficient in data-driven management with deep familiarity in EmpowerDB, HMIS, or similar client databases. Excellent conflict resolution, crisis management, and cross-system collaboration skills.
- Philosophy: Deep alignment with trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and "Housing First" principles.
COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000 per year. Benefits include health, dental, vision, HRA, (DVCC pays $3,350 for individual/$6,700 for family), a 403(b)-retirement plan with 6% employer match, employer paid $10,000 life insurance, additional voluntary life insurance, long-term disability coverage, holidays and 15 days of paid time off. Professional development opportunities are also encouraged.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Full-time position based out of Norwalk and Stamford offices.
- This is an in-person position with the opportunity to work remotely one (1) day per week after successfully completing the 90-day introductory period.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality and adhere to all DVCC and state/federal regulations.
- Ability to travel locally (up to 30%) for regional meetings, training, home visits or client support.
- Flexible schedule that may occasionally require evening or weekend hours based on program needs.
