Office Clerk
Amsterdam Housing Authority
Job responsibilities include:
- answering telephones and taking messages or providing callers with general information correctly
- Preparing, storing, and retrieving lists and documents as needed
- Updating and storing department forms on a computer using word processing software (Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, etc.)
- Sorting, date stamping, and distributing mail and packages correctly
- Maintaining alphabetic, numeric, and/or chronological files of correspondence, documents and materials by coding and filing new material, searching for requested material and periodically purging obsolete media
- Scheduling meetings and appointments using Outlook and Microsoft software
- Entering and retrieving information correctly
- Collecting fees and accounts for monies received utilizing web software
- Demonstrating working knowledge of modern office terminology, procedures, equipment (phones, computer, fax) and business English
- Demonstrating working knowledge of the principles and practices of computerized records and maintenance
- The ability to perform close, detail work involving considerable visual effort and concentration
- Demonstrating ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- The ability to maintain neat and legible records
