Test Vehicle Technician

Position Summary

The Test Vehicle Technician is responsible for supporting vehicle testing operations by preparing vehicles for testing, monitoring test parameters, performing light mechanical duties, collecting fluid samples, and documenting vehicle performance. This position requires close communication with supervision, management, and project managers while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Essential Job Duties

• Tie and untie test vehicles on a test stand for testing.
• Fuel vehicles during testing on the test stand.
• Perform light mechanical duties, including:
• Checking coolant hoses
• Inspecting wipers
• Checking and adjusting tire air pressure
• Obtain fluid samples as required, including:
• Oil
• Fuel
• Coolant
• Water
• Check for and interpret diagnostic codes using handheld scanners.
• Monitor and record test parameters as required.
• Check and adjust vehicle fluid levels.
• Document vehicle performance and associated stand issues following work orders and instructions.
• Communicate closely with supervisors, management, and project managers.
• Maintain a clean work area by following safety and environmental policies.

Required Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages.
• Knowledge of automotive engines, automotive fluids, engine accessories, and their basic functions.
• Ability to use computers for data entry and test diagnostics.
• Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to recognize poor engine performance and seek necessary assistance.
• Ability to use hand tools and powered hand tools.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while communicating effectively with others.
• Ability to monitor multiple tests concurrently.
• Ability to work with both hands and adjust mechanical knobs, levers, brackets, and buttons as instructed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Work Environment

• Work in a potentially hazardous environment with:
• High noise levels
• High heat
• Fumes
• Must follow and adhere to all safety requirements and practices.
• Must be able to work various shifts and a 24/7 operating schedule.

Experience and Additional Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience required.
• Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
• Must have steel-toe shoes.
• This position is considered safety-sensitive.

Schedule

This position operates on a 24/7 schedule. Available shifts include:

• First Shift: 12:00 AM - 8:30 AM
• Second Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Third Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
