Job Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various surgical disciplines and will work collaboratively to ensure high-quality patient care in the operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the circulator for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
• Assist in patient positioning and preparation for surgery.
• Administer medications and manage patient care as per established protocols.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control standards.
• Monitor patient vital signs during procedures and respond to any changes in condition.
• Perform documentation in the electronic charting system accurately.
• Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nursing staff.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an operating room setting.
• Proficient in orthopedic, general, and OB-GYN surgical procedures, including but not limited to total joints and C-sections.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS preferred.
• Strong clinical skills and a thorough understanding of surgical protocols and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule

This position is for a day shift, working Monday through Friday from 06:30 to 15:00. Weekend call responsibility is required approximately every fifth or sixth weekend, with one additional weekday on-call rotation.

Special Requirements

• Familiarity with special procedures and equipment, including anaesthesia and C-sections.
• Experience with various patient age groups, including adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
• Involvement in emergency management protocols and fire safety procedures.

Orientation and Training

An initial orientation period consisting of 8 hours will be provided. This is to ensure familiarity with the operating room environment, team members, and protocols.

Interdisciplinary Support

This role includes collaboration with a range of interdisciplinary teams, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy, to optimize patient outcomes.
