Managing Associate – Legal Practice

We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially focused Managing Associate to join a leading legal practice in New York City .

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior attorney who combines strong technical legal expertise with the ability to manage complex matters, support junior attorneys and work closely with Partners and clients.

The successful candidate will take a leading role across significant client matters while helping to drive the performance and development of the wider legal team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management of complex legal matters and transactions.

• Work closely with Partners to develop and execute effective legal strategies.

• Provide high-quality legal advice to clients across a range of sophisticated matters.

• Draft, review and negotiate complex legal documentation.

• Take responsibility for matter planning, deadlines, budgets and client expectations.

• Act as a key contact for clients and build strong, trusted professional relationships.

• Supervise and develop Associates and junior attorneys, providing guidance and constructive feedback.

• Review work produced by junior members of the team and ensure consistently high standards.

• Assist Partners with business development, client retention and practice growth initiatives.

• Contribute to the development of internal processes and best practices across the team.

• Maintain a strong understanding of developments within the relevant practice area.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

• Admission to the New York Bar .

• Significant experience within a respected law firm or legal practice.

• A strong track record of managing complex legal matters.

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, research and analytical capabilities.

• Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys.

• Strong client management and communication skills.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.

• A commercially minded approach and strong understanding of client objectives.

• The confidence to work closely with Partners, senior clients and other key stakeholders.

• A collaborative leadership style and a desire to play a broader role within the practice.
