Description Summary of Position The Communications Specialist supports the development and execution of The Assistance Fund's (TAF's) communications and marketing initiatives. Working closely with the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, this role creates and coordinates digital media content, including TAF's website and social media, as well as publications, marketing collateral, press releases, and other communications channels. The Communications Specialist also supports stakeholder engagement, digital marketing, storytelling, media monitoring, and communications measurement to increase TAF's brand awareness and effectively communicate its mission, services, and organizational values. Work Model and Compensation This is an Orlando-based hybrid position requiring employees to work onsite at TAF's Orlando office two days per week. The anticipated salary range for this position is $58,000 to $65,000 annually, with final compensation determined based on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus. Position Requirements Responsibilities As Communications Specialist, key responsibilities include: Support the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications to develop engaging content for social media platforms, newsletters, impact reports, and additional publications. Draft engaging online content, including short-form video, to increase TAF’s public brand awareness. Track, measure, and analyze TAF’s communications vehicles to inform TAF's social media strategy, future communications priorities, and quantify the Communications Department's work output. Support the development and execution of TAF’s social media strategy, engage with online communities in alignment with TAF’s brand voice, and serve as a primary point of contact for social media inquiries. Engage TAF’s patient, provider, and supporter communities through interviews and video testimonials for compelling story content for use across communication channels. Actively monitor media in the healthcare space to help inform TAF’s communications strategy. Coordinate with vendors as needed, including outside designers and videographers, on the design, content, and production of collateral marketing materials. Coordinate departmental communications projects by monitoring requests, timelines, deliverables, and deadlines. Maintain a bank of talking points, presentations, photos, and b-roll on key topics. Maintain TAF’s editorial calendar. Review and update website regularly to ensure that navigation is easy, information is presented clearly, outdated information is changed/removed, and TAF’s patient-centric branding is incorporated. Identify improvements, outline themes, and new content, and plan regular updates across all communications vehicles. Support and foster overall organizational awareness and branding. Assist in the launch of disease program openings, including drafting press releases and facilitating all communications related to launch. Support development of executive presentations for senior team members. Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, political science, health policy, or a related field required. Two to three years of communications, public relations, marketing, or related experience; experience in a healthcare, nonprofit, or philanthropic environment preferred. Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and content development skills with an emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Experience developing content for multiple communication channels, including digital media such as social media and website content, newsletters, and publications. Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively across departments and with team members at all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work. Ability to analyze communications performance and engagement data and use insights to inform future communications efforts. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including sensitivity and professionalism when interacting with patients and other stakeholders. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage competing deadlines, and follow projects through to completion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital communications, social media management, content management, and collaboration platforms. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing and executing social media content and engagement strategies. Experience tracking and reporting communications metrics and campaign performance. Project management or communications project coordination experience. Familiarity with AP Style. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, SharePoint, Constant Contact, or similar platforms. Knowledge of the healthcare industry, nonprofit sector, or independent charitable patient assistance organizations. Experience supporting executive presentations, press releases, media communications, or organizational storytelling. Experience coordinating with external vendors such as designers, photographers, videographers, or marketing partners.
