Special Education Teacher Responsibilities Responsibilities vary by placement but may include: Provide individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs
Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Deliver specialized instruction aligned with student goals and educational needs
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
Monitor and document student progress using data-driven practices
Support students' academic, behavioral, social, and functional development
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations
Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities
Foster inclusive, supportive learning environments that promote student success
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field (required)
Valid Vermont Special Education teaching certification or eligibility
Experience in special education settings preferred but not required
