The GS-0661-09 Supervisory Pharmacy Technician evaluates, coordinates, and provides supervisory oversight for all technical aspects of pharmacy operations involved with workflow, including floor stocking, medication delivery, ward inspections, narcotic vault oversight, inventory procurement and maintenance, infusion room support, medication dispensing. The GS-0661-09 Supervisory Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the management and supervision of at least three GS-0661-08 pharmacy technicians.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Serves as direct supervisor for assigned staff, responsible for daily oversight and completion of annual performance evaluations
• The technician supervisor serves with considerable independence in all technical operations of pharmacy activity under the general supervision of the CMOP Director to discuss matters affecting policy or other services.
• Develop the work schedule, plan and grant leave and rotate duties of the pharmacy technician staff. Assures that personnel are scheduled in such a way as to provide consistency of coverage and to accommodate planned leave and promote employee morale, is responsible for tracking and submitting pharmacy technicians time biweekly.
• Coordinates the technical aspects of pharmacy drug distribution activities to ensure standard operating procedures are in alignment with automation capabilities so that efficiencies are maximized. Incumbent is instrumental in recommending changes for the improvement of the workflow, work methods, and priorities involved within the drug distribution system.
• Evaluates and analyzes workflow and coordinates all work activities involved with pharmacy automation throughout multiple production areas. This will involve trouble shooting, regularly gathering data, analyzing, and interpreting VA data and formulating action plans.
• Serves as a back up to Pharmacy Technicians in all production areas. May include but not limited to prescription filling, maintenance and operation of automated prescription dispensing equipment, and packaging of mail out prescriptions.
• Monitors and controls area access for non CMOP individuals and immediately reports any security violations to management for action.
• Complies with all policies and procedures, observes all safety, occupational health and fire protection program standards, regulations, practices, and work methods, to include specialized requirements for hazardous drug handling, storage, and disposal. Participates in safety and health training for the purpose of continuing a safe and environmentally sound practice.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 3:00PM, with occasional overtime.
