PA (Physician's Assistant) Orthopedic Surgery

. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for an Associate-level professional looking to provide high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care in a collaborative and supportive environment.

As an integral member of our orthopedic surgery team, you will conduct patient evaluations, assist during surgical procedures, and provide continuity of care from initial consultation through recovery. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, contributing to excellent clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction for every individual we serve.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive orthopedic patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examinations, and musculoskeletal assessments.
• Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, including intraoperative exposure, retraction, suturing, and application of casts or splints.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the orthopedic surgery team.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, such as x-rays, MRI??? no. Use "Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests and imaging studies related to orthopedic conditions."
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, medication prescriptions, and rehabilitation coordination.
• Perform minor orthopedic procedures, including joint aspirations, injections, and removal of hardware or sutures, as applicable.
• Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, home care instructions, and preventive orthopedic health practices.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, nursing staff, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, clinical efficiency, and satisfaction.

Requirements

• Valid Physician Assistant (PA) licensure or eligibility for licensure within the state of practice.
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program.
• Associate-level experience in orthopedic surgery or a related surgical specialty.
• Strong proficiency in musculoskeletal examination, differential diagnosis, and orthopedic treatment planning.
• Experience assisting with orthopedic surgeries and managing surgical patients across the perioperative continuum.
• Knowledge of orthopedic conditions, surgical protocols, casting techniques, and post-operative rehabilitation principles.
• Ability to order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies within the authorized scope of practice.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients, collaborate with colleagues, and document care clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on-site medical practice environment.
• Commitment to continuing medical education, professional development, and maintaining clinical certifications.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p

Beeper Call: 1:3 rotation

Patient Census: 20-25 per day

Duties: Examine new patients, write treatment plans, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, coordinate and plan surgeries, and assist surgeon with hospital rounds

Cases: General orthopedics, joint replacement, and trauma

Support Staff: Orthopedic surgeon

Preferred Experience: 2+ years

EMR: Meditech

Must be board-certified
