Electrical Field Engineer

Expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 depending on experience. Fisk Electric, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking a Field Engineer to join our Los Angeles, CA office.

DESCRIPTION

As a Field Engineer at Fisk Electric , reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide technical/engineering support to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with the design, technical requirements, codes and standards. Requires civil background, preferably with construction submittals, subcontractor management, and/or relevant field quality control inspection experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities. Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables. Develop/assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements. Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed. Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times. Monitor and participate daily in field construction process. Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtain confirmations from design engineer as needed. Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittals, RFI's, and performance records; maintain accurate payment records. Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provide accurate and factual assessments of project performance. Participate in change orders and claims management. Develop and manage relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants and field personnel. Maintain a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures. Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices. Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work. Coordinate and attend pre-bid and construction meetings. Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities. Assist in preparing crossing applications and work plans, assuring quality control, etc. by subcontractor. Manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution. 5 or more years of experience on Heavy Civil projects. Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements. Project controls techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts). A strong working knowledge of critical path method, resource scheduling is preferred. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera P6 is a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies. Strong work ethic - Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
