Project Manager, Sustainability ProgramsThe Project Manager, Sustainability Programs leads and coordinates environmental sustainability initiatives across the medical device product lifecycle, manufacturing operations, supply chain, and regulatory compliance functions. This remote role focuses on planning, executing, and delivering sustainability projects that support corporate ESG goals, carbon reduction strategies, waste minimization, sustainable product design, and regulatory requirements. The position requires a blend of strong project management capabilities and a solid understanding of medical device development, quality systems, manufacturing processes, and sustainability principles, while working closely with cross-functional teams in a highly regulated environment.Responsibilities:Lead and manage multiple sustainability initiatives from initial planning through implementation and project closeout.Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource requirements, and clear deliverables.Track project milestones, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to schedule and budget commitments.Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.Resolve project issues proactively and escalate concerns appropriately to maintain momentum and alignment.Provide regular, structured project updates and status reports to leadership and key stakeholders.Support corporate sustainability and ESG objectives by translating strategic goals into actionable project plans.Lead projects focused on carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency improvements, and sustainable packaging initiatives.Drive waste reduction and recycling programs, water conservation efforts, and sustainable sourcing initiatives.Lead and support Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and product sustainability reporting to inform design and operational decisions.Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms to measure and communicate sustainability performance.Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Supply Chain, and EHS teams to align project goals and execution.Facilitate cross-functional project meetings, drive accountability, and ensure timely completion of action items.Coordinate activities with external consultants, suppliers, and sustainability partners to support project objectives.Ensure sustainability initiatives align with applicable regulations and standards, including FDA and EU MDR requirements, as well as corporate ESG commitments.Support sustainability-related audits and regulatory inspections by providing documentation, data, and project evidence as needed.Manage project scope changes, control change requests, and align stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure proper documentation, configuration management, and change control procedures are followed in accordance with quality management systems.Collect, validate, and analyze sustainability performance metrics and operational data.Develop executive-level dashboards and reports that clearly communicate project status, outcomes, and trends.Present project status updates, recommendations, and business cases to senior leadership to support decision-making.Apply project management best practices and leverage project management software tools, including Windchill where applicable, to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives.Contribute to sustaining engineering efforts by integrating sustainable design principles into product and process improvements.Collaborate with design and engineering teams to support sustainable design, design history file (DHF) documentation, and continuous improvement activities.Essential Skills:5-10 years of project management experience in Medical Devices, Biotech, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Healthcare Products, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects in regulated settings.Strong project management and time management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.Understanding of medical device product development processes across the product lifecycle.Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and the documentation, compliance, and risk management requirements common in MedTech organizations.Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, ESG initiatives, and environmental performance metrics.Experience leading sustainability projects within medical device manufacturing environments.Experience with EU MDR-related projects and associated regulatory requirements.Proficiency with project management software tools, including experience with Windchill or similar systems.Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret sustainability and operational data for reporting and decision-making.Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, procurement, supply chain, and EHS stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Life Sciences, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical discipline.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Experience working directly within medical device manufacturing operations.Background in project engineering, mechanical engineering, or sustaining engineering in a regulated environment.Familiarity with sustainable design principles and their application to product and packaging development.Experience working with design tools and engineering environments such as mechanical design platforms or AutoCAD.Knowledge of design history file (DHF) requirements and documentation practices in medical device development.Understanding of EU MDR regulations and their impact on product development, manufacturing, and sustainability initiatives.Hands-on experience with sustainability-focused programs such as carbon reduction, energy efficiency, waste minimization, and sustainable sourcing.Ability to develop and manage KPIs and dashboards for sustainability and ESG reporting.Strong stakeholder management skills, including expectation setting, negotiation, and conflict resolution.Formal training or certification in project management methodologies is beneficial.Exposure to environmental health and safety (EHS) practices within manufacturing or product development settings.Work Environment:This is a remote position supporting sustainability programs in a highly regulated medical device and life sciences environment. The Project Manager works closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, procurement, supply chain, and EHS, often coordinating activities across multiple sites and external partners. The role relies on project management software and tools, including platforms such as Windchill, as well as data analytics and reporting tools to track performance and communicate results. Work involves frequent virtual meetings, structured documentation, and adherence to quality management systems and regulatory standards such as FDA and EU MDR. The environment emphasizes accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, compliance, and operational excellence.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract position based out of Largo, FL.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
