SageWest Health Care is located in Fremont County, Wyoming, encompassing two hospitals in Riverton and Lander. We provide a wide range of healthcare services including inpatient, emergency, surgical, imaging, laboratory, primary care, infusion and women’s health. Job Summary Responsible for assessment and direct administration of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. Essential Functions Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs. Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members and co‑workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through positive language principles and constructive problem‑solving techniques. Performs appropriate assessments on all patient populations (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, general) and conducts reassessments per policy. Supervises and delegates the care provided by occupational therapy assistants, therapy technicians, aides, students, and support personnel. Assesses competence, delegates specific tasks, and establishes communication channels according to licensing laws, state regulations and practice standards. Administers treatment involving physical agent modalities using equipment, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Performs therapy interventions using standard occupational therapy techniques appropriate for the patient's age and condition. Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommends modifications. Plans, prepares, and implements individualized treatment programs to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent dysfunction. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness; includes family as appropriate. Establishes a plan of care that is appropriate to identified problems, involves the patient according to capability and desire, and documents goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation. Assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment settings. Provides information regarding appropriate selection, use of adaptive equipment and support programs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Maintains high awareness of patient satisfaction and teamwork. Attention to detail. Adapts to performing well under pressure in a stressful environment and takes appropriate action. Flexible and able to work for appropriate departmental coverage. Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision. Proficient time management skills. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary for essential functions, especially regarding patient or employee safety. Additional languages are preferred. Qualifications Education Degree from an Occupational Therapy Program. Licenses & Certifications Current Occupational Therapy License required by state of practice. National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within time frame specified in facility policy.
