Job Description \n \n RN PER DIEM – All Progressive Care Units (PCU) – Day & Night Shifts - University of New Mexico Hospital – Albuquerque \n \n We have immediate RN Per Diem hiring across our PCU departments. \n Apply and we will have a hiring manager contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and placement. \n \n \n \n Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials \n \n Compensation Disclaimer \n \n Compensation for this role is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations. \n RN Per Diem positions are flat rate: RN Per Diem I $40.30/hour, RN Per Diem II $47.38/hour, and RN Per Diem III $51.49/hour. \n \n \n CURRENTLY HIRING WITHIN: \n · Adult Oncology \n · Coronary Care Subacute \n · Family Medicine Inpatient (3-N) \n · Gen Med/SAC (4-W) \n · General Medicine (5-W) \n · General Surgery/Transplant (6-S) \n · Trauma Subacute (4-E) \n · Orthopedics (3-S) \n · Surgical Specialty Unit (4-S) \n · Neuroscience (5-S) \n \n JOB SUMMARY \n \n \n \n Work within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients consistent with clinical specialty, independent of patient location. Serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. This position does not qualify for out of area float pay. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups. \n · Minimum work requirement for RN Per Diem I is two shifts per schedule. One weekend shift per schedule and one summer and one winter holiday are required. \n · Minimum work requirement for RN Per Diem II is four shifts per schedule. Two weekend shifts per schedule and one summer and one winter holiday are required. \n · Minimum work requirement for RN Per Diem III is ten shifts per schedule. Two weekend shift per schedule and one summer and one winter holiday are required. \n ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS \n - Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following: \n PATIENT CARE - Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required \n POLICIES - Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies \n CARE PLAN - Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching \n TESTS AND PROCEDURES - Assist with special tests and procedures, ensure proper consent has been obtained \n PARTICIPATION - Participate in orientation; upon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel \n EMERGENCY MEASURES - Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients \n MEDICAL RECORDS - Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information \n INQUIRIES - Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy \n MEDICATION - Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings \n ENVIRONMENT - Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards \n DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops \n PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols \n PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes \n PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk \n PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner \n PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right" \n MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS \n \n \n EDUCATION: \n Nursing program (nationally accredited) graduate \n EXPERIENCE: \n 1 year directly related experience \n CERTIFICATIONS: \n RN MATRIX - Complete and maintain unit/clinic based required certifications and competencies as listed in the department expectations/and or the unit/clinic education matrix \n LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: \n Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico \n CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position \n TESTING REQUIREMENTS: \n Obtain UNMH IV Verification within 6 months of position \n Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required \n PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS \n PREFERRED EDUCATION: \n Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing \n PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: \n Bilingual English/Spanish \n Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo \n PREFERRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: \n Nationally Certified in area of specialty \n WORKING CONDITIONS \n ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: \n Sig Hazard: Chemicals, bio hazardous materials requiring extensive safety precautions and may require protective equipment \n PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: \n \n \n \n Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
