As a member of our Kitchen Team, you’re an important part of the guest experience: often the friendly face behind the counter! You’ll prepare and serve food with care, keep the kitchen and service areas clean and organized, and help maintain smooth, fast service. Kitchen team members are trained to handle multiple roles to support both back-of-house prep and guest-facing service, ensuring every meal meets Farmer J’s high standards for quality and hospitality.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare menu items quickly and accurately following Farmer J’s recipes and standardsServe guests with friendliness and attention when working at the counterMaintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times, including proper hand-washing and safe food handlingKeep workstations, prep areas, and service counters clean, stocked, and organizedAssist with receiving and checking deliveries for quality and accuracyRotate stock properly using FIFO to ensure freshness and reduce wasteCommunicate clearly and courteously with front of house team and guestsHandle guest requests and questions about menu items with confidence and careSupport team members by pitching in on cleaning and closing duties as neededFollow all health, safety, and sanitation policies strictlyMaintain proper portion control and presentation of all food servedStay flexible and ready to support other roles during busy times to keep service running smoothlyQualifications1 year cooking in high-volume, high-quality fast-casual or café-style restaurantsComfortable using tools like Toast, Microsoft Office, and other basic systemsSolid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standardsAppreciation for real food: scratch cooking, seasonal ingredients, and sustainable practicesClear, positive communicator with a team-first mindsetCalm under pressure and quick to adapt in a fast-paced, hands-on environmentAbility to read, write and communicate clearly in EnglishFollow written and verbal instructions and have basic math and computer skillsAbility to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business requirePhysical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job duties and responsibilities of this job.
