Scope of Role As a Medical Assistant, you’ll work under direct supervision to assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, promote efficient patient flow, and perform essential clinic support tasks. You’ll be a key part of our mission to deliver exceptional care to every patient, every day. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Escort patients to exam rooms and treatment areas Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication updates Prepare and stock exam rooms; order supplies as needed Assist with exams and procedures Administer injections (subcutaneous/intramuscular) as delegated Maintain room disinfection protocols Answer patient calls and relay messages to clinical staff Phone in prescriptions and follow up with patients Support administrative tasks: scheduling, chart prep, filing, and reception Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred 0–3 years of experience in a clinical setting Current BCLS certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire) Certified Medical Assistant preferred Must meet any state-specific certification requirements Physical & Work Environment Requires standing/walking for long periods and occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs) Exposure to typical oncology clinic conditions including communicable diseases and medical substances Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities Why Join Southern Cancer Center?
