Job Title: Radiographer Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty:
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7 am - 3 pm, including every other weekend Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience:
License: Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible. Certifications: Healthcare Provider certification required (BLS). Must-Have: Must be able to work independently. Description:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician.
Performs related functions according to department protocols.
Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for the examination.
Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations.
Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
Analyzes anatomical structures of patients, sets up equipment, and performs the Radiologic procedures.
Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
Utilizes patient immobilization as needed.
May select and administer intravenous contrast media.
Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction should occur.
Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating principles of radiation protection.
May involve shielding of patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose.
Uses other ALARA techniques as necessary.
May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure to be performed. Follows infection control practices and ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
Follows standards for performing patient care functions as required for optimal patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, and legal/ethical rights.
Completes all necessary worksheets, logs, patient records, and documentation.
When needed, assumes responsibility for teaching and educating new hires and students while maintaining their responsibilities and duties.
Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the PACS.
Completes all study indexing including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System.
Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies.
Demonstrates consistently high standards of teamwork including open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, and respecting diversity.
Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary to support clinical and billing functions.
Works in various hospital settings including fixed units and mobile units.
May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized.
May be exposed to high-voltage equipment.
May be exposed to potentially contagious patients.
Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs.
Demonstrates customer service values including communication, ownership, understanding, motivation, sensitivity, excellence, teamwork, and respect.
Must practice customer skills as provided through ongoing training and in-services.
Must possess personal qualities of being self-directed, flexible, and committed to the team concept.
Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn.
Openness to new learning experiences is essential. Accepts and respects diversity without judgment.
