Position Overview

The Weekend Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care and assistance to residents while promoting dignity, independence, comfort, safety, and quality of life.

CNAs work closely with Nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team to assist residents with activities of daily living, mobility, personal care, meals, and other daily needs.

Weekend CNAs are an important part of maintaining consistent resident care and strong staffing throughout the weekend. Dependable weekend attendance and reliability are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care & Activities of Daily Living

• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, and personal hygiene
• Provide assistance with mobility, transfers, ambulation, repositioning, and other movement needs
• Assist residents with meals, hydration, and feeding when necessary
• Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance
• Assist residents with daily routines while encouraging independence whenever possible
• Provide care according to individualized resident care plans
• Promote resident comfort throughout the shift

Resident Safety

• Follow appropriate transfer, mobility, and positioning procedures
• Use mechanical lifts and other resident-care equipment according to training and facility procedures
• Follow fall-prevention and resident-safety interventions
• Maintain resident areas free from unnecessary hazards
• Respond appropriately to resident emergencies
• Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to the Nurse

Infection Prevention

• Follow established infection-prevention and control practices
• Perform appropriate hand hygiene
• Use personal protective equipment as required
• Follow isolation and transmission-based precautions when applicable
• Properly handle soiled linens, resident-care equipment, and other potentially contaminated materials
• Help maintain a clean and safe resident-care environment

Documentation & Care Plans

• Complete required resident-care documentation accurately and timely
• Document ADL assistance and other assigned care
• Follow individualized resident care plans
• Report refusals of care or incomplete care to the Nurse
• Communicate changes that may require additional nursing assessment
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information

Qualifications

• Active New Mexico Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing
• Ability to consistently work the required weekend schedule
• Compassionate and resident-focused approach to care
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition
• Ability to follow resident care plans and nursing direction
• Skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, senior living, or related healthcare experience preferred
• New CNAs are encouraged to apply
