Mill Operator

The Mill Operator operates and maintains CNC mills to produce precision components in accordance with engineering prints and established quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced machining environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills to produce precision parts that meet engineering prints and quality specifications.
• Run mills consistently and efficiently, ensuring production targets and deadlines are met.
• Interpret and follow blueprints to set up and execute machining operations correctly.
• Change tooling as required for different jobs and verify proper tool selection and installation.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to perform accurate measurements and verify part dimensions.
• Perform basic setup tasks on CNC mills, with training provided to develop full setup capabilities.
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues on mills and lathes to minimize downtime.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the machine shop.
• Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting items weighing 50 pounds or more as needed.
• Work independently and consistently, showing up reliably and maintaining a strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience operating mills in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints.
• Previous experience operating lathes in a manufacturing setting.
• Hands-on experience changing tooling on CNC equipment.
• Proficient use of micrometers, calipers, and gauges for precision measurement.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for CNC mills and lathes.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more as required by shop operations.
• Capability to work independently and maintain productivity in a fast-paced machining environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Mazak controls is beneficial.
• Experience with Fanuc controls is beneficial.
• Prior CNC mill setup experience is preferred; training is available to develop setup skills.
• Comfort working with both mills and lathes in a machine shop environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a smaller, clean, and well-maintained machine shop environment. You will work with CNC mills and lathes, including equipment using Mazak and Fanuc controls, and regularly use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Hours are flexible, allowing some adjustment to fit your schedule, and you are permitted to listen to music while you work, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable shop environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Long Lake, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $29.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
