Gymnastics Instructor

Gymnastics Instructor Greater Green Bay YMCA. Job Summary As a Gymnastics Instructor, you will safely lead members and participants through fun and engaging gymnastics classes. You will provide instruction in gymnastics practices while developing participants’ confidence, skills, and abilities. Evening classes are offered between 3:45 PM – 7:30 PM during the week. During the school year, Saturday morning classes are offered between 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Essential Functions Build collaborative relationships with participants and parents to retain class numbers. Instruct participants on proper form and encourage growth in the sport. Record participant progress on skills and report this to the supervisor. Complete class recommendation forms with feedback for parents in a timely manner. Maintain safety of both participants and equipment at all times. Find substitute instructors as needed and provide a prepared lesson plan for them. Take attendance on a daily basis. Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children, which includes: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children. Attend required abuse risk management training. Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Skills and Training One year experience in gymnastics or related teaching experience required. Knowledge of gymnastics terms and skills and the ability to break skills down to a teachable level. Instructors must be at least 14 years of age. Competencies Building Relationships: Create sustainable relationships within the Y. Safety: Provide instruction that ensures the safety of all, and ensure the environment is safe and engaging. Clean, inspect, and maintain equipment to ensure participant safety. Physical Requirements: Actively lead and demonstrate skills, requiring significant use of hands, arms, and body. Lift up to 50 pounds for equipment set‑up and participant spotting. Critical Thinking and Decision Making: Make informed decisions within the scope of delivering exceptional SMART service, handle parent questions, and appropriately manage complaints.
