Job Details Job ID: 5772470 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 10, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 13, 2026 Job Description Date Posted: June 10, 2026 Position: NC Education Corps Tutor, Union Elementary School Terms of Contract: Temporary, part-time, no benefits, 5 hours per day, August 13, 2026 – May 26, 2027 (student days only) Nature of Work (Goal): In collaboration with NC Education Corps and following the high‑impact tutoring model, a tutor will provide support to students during the school day at least three days per week, working with multiple groups of 1-4 students for 30‑minute sessions. This initiative will focus on strengthening the foundational skills of K‑5 students. Tutoring activities will be conducted under the supervision of a classroom teacher and/or tutor lead. Reports to: School Principal Salary:

• 25 per hour for certified retired teacher
• 20 per hour for certified
• 15 per hour for non‑certified

Qualifications and Requirements Working knowledge of effective methods of working with students Working knowledge of the core subjects at the grade level to which the employment assignment is made Some knowledge of the school organization and its community Some knowledge of expected behavior of students and basic characteristics of ages and stages Skill to operate audiovisual and technological equipment and common office machines Skill to make learning aids which will strengthen lesson plans Ability to comprehend the purpose of teacher‑designed strategies as a fulfillment of the instructional objective Ability to discern significant student behavior and refer this to the supervisor Ability to impart information to the student’s level of comprehension Ability to apply, impartially and consistently, proper methods of recognition, reward and punishment Ability to solve independently most minor problems Ability to follow minimally detailed written and oral instructions without constant supervision Ability to record and store data accurately Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with parents, students, teachers, staff, and administrators The employee provides support to the teacher in the instruction of students Responsibility tasks directed by specific instructions, precedents and established policy Problems are solved through judgment Work performed under limited supervision of teacher and/or principal Must be able to perform heavy labor of lifting objects exceeding 20–100 lbs Job Requirements Citizenship, residency or work visa required Duties Gives small‑group instruction (up to 4 students per group) as prescribed by teacher Provides individualized supplemental instruction as directed by the classroom teacher Plans for high dosage (at least 3 sessions/week; 30 minutes per session) tutoring services Demonstrates various instructional activities Monitors student progress using a prescribed tutoring log Checks and corrects students’ work while in progress Keeps students on task Reinforces core instruction as taught by classroom teacher Reports student progress to teacher Attends initial training sessions provided by NC Education Corps Participates in ongoing learning and professional coaching support provided by NC Education Corps Distributes and collects instructional materials Records student behavior and learning outcomes Shares data as identified by NC Education Corps partners Supervises students in a small‑group classroom setting Creates and distributes awards for positive behavior Teaches citizenship, social skills and respect for others Reconciles minor student conflicts Disciplines misbehavior through approved methods Reports discipline problems to teacher or principal Reports to supervisor significant change or lack of change in student behavior Other duties as assigned Application Deadline Open Until Filled Application Process All candidates are required to complete an online application via Applicant Tracking.
