Your Day-to-Day as a Millwright: Safety Actively participates in Drax Safety culture through DATS for safety conversations, observations, and training. Supports leadership in mentoring and training employees, ensuring proper documentation and competence. Maintains high housekeeping standards in the department with team involvement. Utilizes SDS for chemical safety training for all employees. Completes safety-related Plant Operator Development Program requirements. Communicates clearly and concisely on company radios in line with Drax’s procedures. Actively engages in Drax's OH&S Committee. Technical Routine Daily Maintenance (75%) Conducts regular maintenance on machines to uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards. Installs, inspects, and repairs a variety of mechanical equipment, collaborating with other trades to enhance efficiency and safety. Shutdown and Strategic Capital Projects (15%) Assists in project planning and execution, ensuring safety, quality, and timeliness in collaboration with team members. Mentorship and Leadership to Maintenance Staff (10%) Champions the Drax Safety Program and mentors Millwright Apprentices in their professional development. What you’ll bring: To excel in this vital role, you’ll need: Red Seal Certified Millwright 5+ years in heavy industry (pellet, particle board, or fibre board preferred). Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Familiarity with wet precipitators and heavy industry operations is advantageous. Proficient in mobile equipment operation and work order systems. Independent worker and adaptable to schedule changes. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Good mechanical aptitude. Valid Driver’s license.
