Whether you're looking to deepen your surgical skills, pursue certification, or simply work alongside some of the best specialists in the field, VSC is where that journey begins.Veterinary Assistant - Neurology - Full TimeVeterinary Surgical Centers in Vienna, VA$20-22 hourly pay rateWhat You'll DoIn this cross-trained role, you'll rotate across our Neurology and Surgery departments, building expertise in both. Key responsibilities include:Assisting board-certified neurologists and surgeons during examinations, procedures, and surgeriesSupporting neurological patient care including assessment, monitoring, and nursing care for neuro patientsMonitoring anesthesia and supporting pre- and post-operative patient care across both specialtiesPerforming surgical prep including shaving, sterile scrubbing, and instrument setupTaking patient histories, monitoring vitals, and performing patient check-in and dischargePerforming in-hospital laboratory procedures and preparing specimens for outside laboratoriesPerforming and/or assisting with diagnostic imaging, including radiographs, CT, MRI, and digital imagingMaintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records including treatment sheets and medication logsMaintaining a clean, organized, and safe hospital environmentDelivering excellent customer service and professional communication to clients and referring veterinariansSupporting client education on discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up careBenefitsOur comprehensive benefit package includes:Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with a total company match up to 4%, after 6 months of employmentGenerous paid time offContinuing education yearly allowance for skills developmentUniform allowanceCertification fees reimbursement (eligible employees only)Mental Health ResourcesCompany paid bonding leave or applicable state provided bonding leavePlus, special benefits to utilize for your own pet:Pet Care: Discounts on veterinary services and productsPet Diagnostics: Discounts on reference lab testingPet Food: Discounts on Purina pet foodsPet Insurance: Discounts available with our preferred vendorRequirementsMinimum 2 years of veterinary hospital experience requiredHands-on experience with anesthesia monitoring is requiredMust be able to demonstrate proficiency with multi-parameter monitoring equipment, as well as, inhalant and injectable anesthetic agentsExperience in specialty, surgical, or neurology veterinary medicine is strongly preferredCandidates in progress toward credentialing are highly encouraged to applyFamiliarity with anesthesia monitoring equipment, inhalant and injectable agentsStrong communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a teamAbility to handle a fast-paced, high-stress environment with professionalism and positivityMust be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periodsRarebreed Veterinary Partners is a purpose-driven team that places talent first by supporting professionals to thrive in our industry and empowering hospital teams to provide exceptional care for pets and their owners.
