Staff Accountant – Mostly Remote

A growing and well-established organization in the Greater Hartford area is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its corporate accounting team. This is a mostly remote opportunity offering strong exposure across the accounting function and the chance to partner with different areas of the business. The ideal candidate will have a few years of hands-on accounting experience and a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly and fiscal close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial results
• Prepare and post journal entries and complete monthly account reconciliations
• Support general ledger accounting and financial reporting activities
• Assist with banking, cash management, and funding processes
• Support fixed asset and capital accounting
• Prepare financial reports and perform account and data analysis
• Assist with external audit requests and documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related is required
• 1–4+ years of relevant general ledger accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with journal entries and account reconciliations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
