Registered Nurse PCU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the PCU/Step Down unit provides skilled nursing care to a diverse patient population including ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical cases. The nurse functions as a float resource across multiple units to meet institutional needs, delivering high-quality patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio ranging from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on acuity. This role may include charge nurse responsibilities on small units, requiring experience in managing staffing, bed flow, and unit coordination. US nursing experience and charge nurse experience are required. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license valid in the United States.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in the US acute care setting.
• Charge nurse experience, particularly in small unit management.
• Proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, variable acuity environment.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in telemetry, medical-surgical, and step-down care units.
• Previous float nurse experience across multiple hospital units.
• Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication skills.

Special Considerations:

• Must have US nursing experience; Canadian experience alone is not acceptable.
• Charge nurse responsibilities apply only on select small units staffed by 1 2 RNs with LPN and CNA support.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit acuity.
• Check with manager prior to accepting any 48-hour per week contracts.

Scheduling:

• Four 12-hour night shifts per week, typically from 19:00 to 07:30.
• Shift assignments based on institutional needs with floating between units.
• Start date as soon as possible.
