Project Engineer 2The Project Engineer 2 assists and supports the Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities, and gathers and distributes information. The Project Engineer 2 must be a flexible and adaptable team player and have strong communication and client service skills.Major duties and responsibilities include:Setup initial contracts and project informationCoordinate various tradesResolving design coordination issuesReceive, review, forward, and track the status of submittalsOversee & manage the RFI processAssist in the management of the project permit processAssist in preparations of bid packages and procurementIdentify long lead items and establish procurement prioritiesUpdate construction schedule based on project team input, Trade Contractor progress, and materials deliveryChange management systems, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change ordersTrack and inspect material deliveriesAssists with reports regarding the financial performance of the projectAssist in the preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as requiredAttend and/or lead project meetings, as directed by the Project ManagerOversee timely distribution and accurate recording of all meeting minutesAssist and/or complete project close-outCommunicate and enforce Manhattan's environmental, health, and safety management policiesDemonstrate commitment to an Injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring othersAssist in the review of Subcontractor monthly payment applicationsAssist in coordinating punch list items and proceduresPerform quality control inspections & oversee QPL process logOversee project-specific integration of quality, closeout, photo documentation, & procurement technology softwareResponsible for conducting themselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work.Other duties as assignedJob skills and abilities guidelines include:Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office, Procore, & Bluebeam productsKnowledge of Manhattan document control and scheduling softwareBroad understanding of industryStrong written and verbal communication skillsBasic math/accounting skillsFunctions effectively as part of a teamDependabilityAbility to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all timesAbility to understand and follow directionsTime management skills and organizational skillsProven ability to train and mentor team membersAbility to read drawings and specifications for all trades/scopesAbility to identify and mitigate site risk and financial efficiencyMinimum qualifications include:Bachelor's Degree- Construction Management, Engineering, equivalent degree, or 2 years of industry experience.Working conditions and physical efforts include:You must be adaptable to all types of weather conditions and traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.Ability to repeat the same movements.Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence.Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time.Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver's License).Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.About ManhattanFounded in 1896, Manhattan is a top-ranked national construction services firm that provides preconstruction, construction management, program management, general building, and design-build services.
