Accountant

Schedule: Full Time - may have reduced hours in winter months Pay: $25/hr Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with strong knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and payroll processes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reviewing financial records, payroll information, and reports while ensuring accuracy and compliance. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and manage accounting records using QuickBooks Desktop Review employee hours and payroll information for accuracy Review and verify payroll taxes, deductions, and garnishments Review payroll reports provided by Paychex and identify or resolve discrepancies Ensure payroll-related information is accurate before processing Maintain accurate employee payroll and financial records Assist with general accounting functions, reconciliations, and financial reporting Work closely with management and Paychex to address payroll questions or corrections Maintain confidentiality when handling employee payroll and financial information Qualifications: Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop Solid understanding of payroll processing and payroll procedures Knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, and wage garnishments Experience reviewing payroll reports and identifying discrepancies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Previous accounting and payroll-related experience required Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is someone who is highly comfortable working with numbers, understands the details behind payroll, and can confidently review payroll information for accuracy. Although this position does not process payroll directly, the Accountant should have enough payroll knowledge to recognize errors or discrepancies in employee hours, taxes, garnishments, deductions, and Paychex payroll reports.
