Telecommunications Technician

The Role The Customer Service Technician will perform installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high‑speed internet networks including associated wiring and equipment, and maintain and repair outside plant facilities. Location and Schedule Full time position in Destin and Freeport areas. Schedule Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm; may include nights, weekends, holidays, on‑call and possible overtime. The Main Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high‑speed internet networks including associated wiring and equipment; climbing poles, using a shovel and pick to dig up and bury cable; locate buried telephone cables. Observe all safety rules and regulations; assist other technical personnel when requested. Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating company’s products and services to customers. Actively support sales and marketing related activities, direct customer‑facing work and sales referrals. Maintain accountability/dependability by arriving on time and on load when scheduled and serve on call as needed. Work as a team member, applying technical expertise to complete work efficiently and achieve work‑group key service measures. Exercise active listening to take input from customers, supervisors and co‑workers to problem‑solve and improve skills. Ask relevant questions to ensure problems are resolved quickly or to clarify information or directions. Engage in active learning, seek new information and work to improve skills and knowledge; perform all other duties as assigned. What We Look For in a Candidate High School diploma (or equivalent) or higher. Ability to distinguish colors on facilities. Ability to handle 28 ft extension ladders (up to 75 lbs routine work). Successfully complete service tech boot‑camp training, POTS/DSL installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic transmissions, and HSI installations. Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces, utility holes) and work aloft (ladder). Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and across varying shifts and hours including days, nights, weekends, holidays and possible mandatory overtime. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as a customer‑facing telecom operations technician. Basic electricity training/certification or equivalent work experience. ADSL installation/repair experience (self/full installs).
