SENIOR SOFTWARE ARCHITECT – JAVA & BANKING

Full-Time | 14–18 Years | Hybrid

Locations: Strongsville, OH | Dallas, TX | Pittsburgh, PA

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Software Architect to lead the design and engineering of large-scale banking applications. The ideal candidate brings deep Java expertise, distributed-systems experience, architecture leadership, and a track record of delivering secure, scalable solutions for banking or financial-services clients. Experience in a technology consulting or digital engineering organization is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead end-to-end architecture for enterprise, web-based, distributed banking applications and Java microservices.
• Define solution blueprints, service boundaries, APIs, integration patterns, data flows, and engineering standards.
• Guide hands-on Java development, code reviews, performance troubleshooting, testing, and production stabilization.
• Drive modernization of legacy applications and ensure scalability, resilience, security, and regulatory alignment.
• Partner with business, product, risk, compliance, and engineering stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Lead architecture reviews, manage technical risks and debt, and mentor architects and engineering teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 14–18 years of software engineering and architecture experience, including strong hands-on Java development (mandatory).
• Strong Java 8/11/17+, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, domain-driven design, and distributed systems expertise.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, relational/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, containers, and CI/CD/DevSecOps.
• Banking or financial-services technology experience, ideally with high-volume or mission-critical applications.
• Ability to produce architecture diagrams and design documents and lead architecture reviews across teams.
• Strong communication, consulting, stakeholder-management, and technical leadership skills.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid model from Strongsville, OH; Dallas, TX; or Pittsburgh, PA.

PREFERRED

Experience with AWS or Azure, Docker/Kubernetes, application modernization, enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, AI/ML integration, and globally distributed onsite-offshore teams. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
