Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year of charge experience preferred License: Must have an active RN license in the state Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Experience with Epic charting system preferred Proficient with major skills in orthopedic nursing Ability to scrub for orthopedic surgeries preferred Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room. The role involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics undergoing orthopedic surgeries. Daily patient census ranges from 10 to 20 across multiple operating rooms. The position requires administration of blood products and managing patient safety protocols. Responsibilities include assisting with surgical procedures such as total joint replacements and various orthopedic repairs. Expected tasks involve wound management and urinary bladder catheterization. The working environment includes a surgical center with the use of standard operating room equipment. Flexibility to float between facilities may be necessary. The facility operates from 7 AM to 5 PM for surgical blocks, with occasional late stays required. A thorough understanding of infection control and fire safety is essential. Candidates should have the ability to respond to codes and manage potential emergencies. Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia and latex allergy protocols is beneficial.
