CLIN NURSE 2 Department: LJ IP Emergency Department Hiring Pay Scale: $66.25 - $92.86 / Hour Worksite: Jacobs Medical Center Appointment Type: Career Appointment Percent: 90% Union: NX Contract Total Openings: 9 Work Schedule: Nights, 12‑Hour Shifts, Sunday‑Saturday Filing Deadline: Fri 5/1/2026 Description UC San Diego Health is a Magnet‑designated organization, offering exemplary nursing care in a variety of settings. Total patient care for the Emergency Department Inpatient population—admitted patients in the emergency room—includes ICU, IMU, Telemetry, and Med‑Surg levels of care. The RN must be qualified to provide the highest level of care, IMU, and possess special training in critical care, oncology, surgery, and medicine. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at the time of hire; commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire. Minimum of two (2) years of recent adult acute‑care RN experience at the IMU level of care or higher acuity. ED experience does not qualify. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple high‑acuity patients while maintaining patient safety. Ability to function in a fast‑paced team environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients. Preferred Qualifications BSN/MSN education. Recent ED Inpatient (EDIP) experience as an RN. Experience with oncology patient care, including management of immunocompromised patients or chemotherapy‑related complications. Special Conditions Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Must be willing to work night shift. Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86. Compensation is determined by experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Life‑Support Certifications All life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
