Quality Control Technician

SAIC is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team in Hanahan, SC. This position is 100% on site.

Job Description:

The Quality Control Technician will provide technical support to project teams by performing Quality Control (QC) inspections and related QA activities throughout the production lifecycle. This role ensures that incoming materials, in-process assemblies, documentation, and final products meet all specified quality, safety, and performance requirements.

Work is primarily associated with electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical components and assemblies. The technician applies practical knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles to support compliance with project requirements, standards, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform receipt inspections of incoming electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated materials against drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.

• Verify certification, traceability, and conformance of supplier documentation (e.g., Certificates of Conformance, test reports, material certifications).

• Identify, document, and assist in disposition of nonconforming material in accordance with established quality procedures.

• Conduct in-process QC inspections at defined assembly hold points to verify workmanship, configuration, and compliance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and applicable standards.

• Inspect wiring, terminations, mechanical fits, labeling, and other critical attributes throughout the build process.

• Coordinate with engineers, production personnel, and QA staff to resolve nonconformances and clarify quality or configuration requirements.

• Review and verify completeness and accuracy of production travelers, inspection records, test data, and other quality documentation.

• Ensure that the latest approved drawings, specifications, and procedures are being used at the point of manufacture and test.

• Maintain organized, traceable quality records in accordance with project, company, and customer requirements.

• Perform final inspection of completed assemblies and systems to confirm compliance with all technical and contractual requirements.

• Support or conduct functional and performance testing in accordance with approved test procedures, using appropriate test instruments and equipment.

• Record test data, analyze results for compliance, and document findings, discrepancies, and corrective actions.

• Assist engineers and QA staff in identifying recurring issues, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.

• Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions by providing accurate inspection data and observations.

• Participate in audits, readiness reviews, and other quality-related activities as required.

Supervision & Work Characteristics

• Works under the general direction of a QA Lead, QA Supervisor, or Project Manager who defines objectives and priorities.

• Independently plans and performs routine and non-routine QC inspection tasks within established procedures and standards.

• Exercises judgment in interpreting drawings, specifications, and work instructions, and in determining compliance or nonconformance.

• Coordinates with engineering, production, logistics, and QA personnel to resolve issues and maintain production flow.

• May provide guidance and on-the-job training to less experienced technicians on inspection methods, documentation, and quality procedures.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related technical field, or equivalent military/industrial experience.

• Six (6) years + of experience in production, manufacturing, quality assurance, or test of electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems preferred.

• Experience in a regulated or standards-driven environment (e.g., ISO, AS9100, MIL-STD) is desirable.

• Practical knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices related to electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical components and assemblies.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, work instructions, and test procedures.

• Familiarity with common inspection tools and test instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters, continuity testers).

• Understanding of basic quality principles, nonconformance documentation, and configuration control.

• Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and ability to maintain accurate, legible inspection records.

• Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, production staff, and quality personnel.

• Ability to use email and basic office productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook) to communicate and document inspection-related information.

• Competence in electronic file management, including saving, naming, organizing, and retrieving files in shared network drives or document control systems.

• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
