Full-Time School Health Services Specialist (Registered Nurse)

Full‑Time School Health Services Specialist – Job ID 2377. School Year Job Summary Administer routine and minor first aid to students. Report statistics of student accidents, illness, and immunizations for the school nurse on a manual or automated system. Compose and send written notices about health activities and concerns to students and parents as required. Initiate and maintain contact with parents by phone as needed to communicate health‑related concerns and updates. Dispense medication to students as prescribed by the student's doctor, according to District policy. Maintain close communication with the school nurse on proper procedures to be used in dealing with health problems and activities. Work closely with teachers, counselors, administrators and parents on the health care needs of students. Perform other health service duties as assigned by the nurse. Maintain accurate routine records. Other duties as assigned. Summer Program Job Responsibilities Assist with staff training on minor health needs for students and review any health plans with summer staff. Administer routine and minor first aid to students. Communicate any health concerns to students' parents as required. Support with any healthcare needs of students. Maintain accurate routine records. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) certification required. Previous work in a school health office setting preferred. CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain. Ability to exercise judgment in dealing with emergencies and special health needs of students. Knowledge of data privacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Dedication to providing the highest level of customer service to the school community. Enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment with students, parents, and school staff members. Ability to multi‑task and prioritize work responsibilities. Display flexibility and openness to change. Initiate tasks based on situational needs. Schedule School year: 6.5 hours/day, 178 days. Summer session: 6.5 hours/day, 48 days. Total: 226 days/year. Location School year: Discovery Center/Schumann Elementary. Summer program: Orono Intermediate School.
