The organization is working to transform U.S. healthcare into a high-performance system by finding innovative solutions that improve quality and lower costs, and accelerating their adoption on a national scale. Established by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the Center collaborates with stakeholders across the healthcare system and engages in grant-making, partnerships, and research. About the Opportunity The Center seeks a Senior Manager to support the ideation, development, and execution of work primarily within its health technology policy portfolio. This position will play a central role in articulating and advancing the Center’s health technology policy development efforts, with a focus on policies that can increase efficiency, improve health outcomes, and lower healthcare costs. The person for this role will help translate insights and findings from the Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) into a broader policy agenda aimed at creating the conditions for health technology innovation to improve health outcomes and lower spending. This person will work closely with the Senior Director of Policy and other Center leadership to support existing projects and grants including significantly contributing to policy and research papers, regulatory comment letters, and other policy collateral aligned with the Center’s goals. They will also assist in the development of new grants and continuing to build out areas of strategic focus. More specifically, responsibilities include: Project Design, Execution and Management Support and help drive a dynamic, growing technology focused portfolio of policy and policy-adjacent projects and deliverables for the Center, such as: Drafting research papers and select regulatory comment letters to advance our technology policy objectives. Supporting the Senior Director in the ideation and development of the tech portfolio’s thesis, which will have an emphasis on policy change. Understanding the tech policy environment, being able to parse signals from noise in a fast-moving space. Serving as the content and managerial glue between Sr. Director and associate staff. Oversee and facilitate the development and management of grants and contracts that support the Center’s goals. This includes supporting the grant lifecycle process: Serve as a thought partner in each step of the grant making process from ideation to proposal development to final outcomes and deliverables. Synthesize learnings and develop and present complex deliverables to leadership; Oversee associate staff to ensure meticulous tracking of project status, internal and external partners, necessary follow-ups, and next steps. Evaluate the project and outcomes to develop recommendations for subsequent funding. Work closely with the Grant Operations team to ensure that grantees comply with organizational financial policies, oversight processes and requirements. Work with Center leadership and other staff to identify and implement process improvements related to grant creation, project management and administration. Internal and External Strategy and Management Collaborate closely with colleagues and the leadership team on internal strategic priorities and decision making regarding the portfolio and the broader program. Build relationships with, and serve as a connector and convener of foundations, experts, leadership organizations and other key partners where appropriate. Commission, oversee, and conduct relevant research and analysis and share key findings. Attend relevant external meetings and conferences as well as ensure constant scans of the healthcare field, including debates, developments, new research findings, and policy decisions to stay current. Partner with the Communications department to identify opportunities to promote and elevate the Center’s work. Manage the work of junior staff to support projects; work with the Sr. Director to develop professional learning and growth opportunities. Possesses relevant health policy or strategic consulting experience: You have experience in areas relevant to health tech policy, such as coverage, reimbursement, regulatory oversight, or data-sharing frameworks that govern the U.S. health technology ecosystem. You are motivated to deepen expertise in emerging area of health technology while remaining open to expanding into other areas of health policy as the Center’s needs and interests evolve. Additionally, do you have: At least 9+ years of experience in relevant areas of health tech policy, either within government or engaging regularly with government officials and/or government policymaking processes, strategic consulting, corporate strategy, business operations or other professional services, program or project management, or related experience. Intellectual curiosity about how philanthropy drives change in health care markets and policy, and interest in healthcare delivery, funding and financing, healthcare system transformation. A bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in science, public health, public policy or related area is a plus. In order to build productive relationships across the organization and to ensure effective collaboration, this role requires in-person presence in accordance with the organization’s hybrid schedule of working in the office three days per week. Salary and Benefits We anticipate that the starting base salary range for this position will be $115,000 to $120,000, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of factors, such as skills, experience, qualifications, education, and the location in which the job will be performed.
