Physical Therapy AssistantThe Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services including treatment, implementation and documentation under the direction of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provides physical therapy according to the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care according to state regulationsTreats individuals to help relieve pain, develops or restores function, and maintains functional mobility and performanceContinues to assess the client's living environment for barriers, safety risks and equipment needsDirects and aids clients in active, passive and resistive therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education, functional gait and balance training, transfer activities, and prosthetic trainingInstructs care and use of assistive mobility devices, braces and prosthetic or orthotic devicesUtilizes physical agents, including but not limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massageCleans and maintains equipment used in the field in accordance with manufacturers directions and per policyInstructs and educates individual, family, and/or caregivers in the use of and care of therapeutic appliancesReports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition to physician and Physical TherapistIdentifies individual and family/caregiver needs for other supportive services and notifies Physical TherapistMaintains communication with the company and other personnel caring for the client to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of carePrepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based on the progress toward goals and responses to treatmentParticipates in discharge planningProvides/submits accurate and timely documentation that is consistent with the plan of careComplies with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standardsPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practiceGraduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy AssistantOne (1) year of prior professional Physical Therapy Assistant experience preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefits At Amergis:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs
