About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: IMC Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty License: RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Telemetry oncology, cardiac experience, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required. Vent and transplant experience preferred. Description: Traveler will work in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care unit and IMC Thoracic unit. Day/Evening, 12-hour shift, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Traveler will be required to pass a Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start. Knowledge of accessing and managing ports and arterial line management is essential. Experience in BiPAP/CPAP management and blood product administration is required. Traveler should be proficient in cardiac telemetry and central line care/management. Skills in chest tube management, feeding tube care, and heparin protocols are necessary. The role requires vital sign monitoring including interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Traveler should be knowledgeable in isolation precautions and IV insulin protocols. Experience with non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration is critical. PICC line management and pre/post cardiac cath/surgery experience is required. Ability to start and maintain IVs, manage surgical drains, and provide telemetry care is expected. Additional tasks may include titration of vasoactive and insulin drips. The successful candidate will engage in acquiring new skills and integrating evidence-based nursing practices. Teamwork and providing compassionate care are vital aspects of this role. The unit serves adult and geriatric patient populations with a daily census of seven. Patient diagnoses include a variety of thoracic procedures such as esophagectomies and cardiac surgery stepdown patients. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Traveler may be required to float as needed within the unit.
