About the Role

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to join their fast-scaling tech start-up. The successful candidate will be instrumental in navigating the legal landscape and ensuring the company's future is shaped and safeguarded. Responsibilities will encompass a wide range of legal areas, including corporate governance, risk management, contract negotiations, and intellectual property protection. The General Counsel will work closely with senior leadership, providing strategic legal guidance that aligns with business objectives, and will be pivotal in steering the company through complex legal challenges and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in EU law, particularly in the context of digital marketplaces, and possess strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. They will be responsible for legal strategy and compliance, managing a fraud team, overseeing contract management, risk identification, and mitigation, as well as ensuring the company's intellectual property rights and data privacy practices are in line with legal requirements. The role also involves advising on employment law, and the General Counsel will be the primary point of contact for all legal issues within the company, requiring excellent stakeholder communication and the ability to integrate legal considerations into business processes. A background in tech industry standards and international law experience is a plus.
