Accounting Manager

Overview SUMITOMO ELECTRIC U.K. POWER CABLES LTD. is seeking an accounting manager to oversee the company’s financial and closing‑of‑books operations. The accounting manager will lead the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS, manage day‑to‑day accounting operations and tax compliance, and provide financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making. The role will coordinate and manage regulatory reporting, be responsible for budget planning, and support executive management in making informed business decisions. Desired start date: June2026. Location: Preferred in Glasgow with occasional UK project travel. Duties and Responsibilities Financial Reporting Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Review monthly financial and management reporting. Monitor day‑to‑day financial operations such as invoicing, payment, and other transactions. Maintain main books and records. Statutory Compliance Manage local statutory accounting, tax filings (Corporate Income Tax, Consumption Tax). Adhere to financial regulations and legislation. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting staff. Audit Management Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors. Monitor internal financial control. Process Improvement Streamline accounting processes, enhance internal controls, and implement system improvements. Maintain a control environment with monthly balance sheet reconciliations and P&L reviews. Develop risk‑minimising strategies. Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company. Collaboration Coordinate with regional/global FP&A, Treasury, and Legal teams regarding transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and reporting. Work with other departments to prepare budgets and carry out related tasks. Develop long‑term business plans based on financial reports. Provide advice on future business decisions. Qualifications (Key Interfaces) 5+ years experience in a similar role. CA/CPA qualified accountant. Experience in planning and management reporting. Sound technical and practical knowledge of accounting and regulatory reporting requirements. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience Qualified accountant. Professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA). MSDD365 FO experience. Work experience in a Japanese company. #J-18808-Ljbffr
