Knowledge of food service equipment and of institutional meal preparation is preferred. Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions. Ability to work with food service staff, faculty, and students; to communicate with food service staff, faculty, and students; must understand and learn all safety and sanitation regulations pertaining to food service; ability to lift/carry a minimum of 40 lbs.

• Help with food preparation as needed
• Support daily program operations including operating the cash register, POS computer, washing pots, cleaning tables, using the dish machine, and serving students and staff during meal distribution.
• Aid in handling daily deposits while adhering to the Framingham School Nutrition Revenue Policy.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria.
• Assist in restocking supplies and managing inventory.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or the Director of School Nutrition

The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and a step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling objects. The position requires lifting of 40 pounds on a frequent basis and over 40 pounds occasionally.

The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents used are cleaning fluids. The occupant will be exposed to extreme heat / cold conditions. The occupant is expected to wear vinyl gloves and proper hair restraints when serving and working with food. The occupant is expected to follow the uniform policy set by the Director of Food Service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee interacts with students and other staff members.

FLSA Classification: This position is classified as Non-Exempt (hourly).

Terms Of Employment: This is a ten (10) month position (191 days) Covered under Food Service Association (Unit N) Contract.
