Registered Nurse (RN)Location: Montgomery, ALFacility Overview: This facility is a 492-bed hospital, equipped with a Level I Trauma Center, a Level III NICU, and recognized as a Primary Stroke Center.Unit Information6 North Trauma Surgical Beds: 23Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeriesSkills Required: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations5 South Neuroscience Beds: 33Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogramSkills Required: IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, Colostomy/Ostomy, wound care, chest tube care, surgical site care, C-Collar, abdominal binders, restraints5 North MedSurg/Oncology Beds: 39 (2 Charge RNs, no patient assignment)Patient Types: All patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative care and ETOH withdrawalSkills Required: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration preferred if certified3 South Orthopedic Beds: 20Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine, including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomiesSkills Required: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley care, drains3 North MS/Ortho/Urology Beds: 23Patient Types: Urology, ENT, orthopedic, MedSurgSkills Required: Trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, adherence to nurse-driven foley protocolQualificationsMinimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICUEPIC or Cerner experience required, with Cerner mandatory for strictly ICU experienceTelemetry experience preferred—if applicable, please elaborate on experienceRequired Certifications: BLS, NIHSSSupport on the UnitCNA Ratio: 1:10-12 for vital signs, ADLs, and glucose checks when availableReceptionist/HUC: YesCharge Nurse: Yes, rarely takes assignmentPhlebotomy: YesIV/VAT Team: YesHospitalist: YesTelemetry Monitoring Tech: YesTechnology and EquipmentEMR: Cerner (EPIC experience considered)IV Pumps: Plum 360Medication Dispensing: OmnicellMonitors: SpacelabsOrientation and SchedulingFirst-time travelers will have 24 hours of classroom training and 24 hours on the unitWeekend Rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per monthHoliday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy; holiday scheduling is not guaranteedShift Times: 7a-7p, 7p-7a
