Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 20 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Description: Candidates must comply with a fingernail policy that prohibits artificial nails in departments providing patient care. A driver's license is required for submission. Registered Nurses will be required to pass an exam during orientation, with resources provided to help achieve a passing grade. Common nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2. If there are downgrades in patient status, staffing will be adjusted accordingly. The unit frequently cares for patients with conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro issues. RNs will be required to titrate drips, including vasopressors, insulin, heparin, and IV antibiotics. A charge nurse is present on each shift, and they take on patient assignments. Patient care techs will assist on the unit, with ratios that depend on the number of patients. Critical care coverage is available 24/7, including E-ICU nursing and APRN support. RNs are expected to troubleshoot ventilators, BiPAPs, and other respiratory equipment. RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips, utilizing the designated tele monitoring equipment. Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700, with a unit scheduler handling scheduling. Weekend and holiday requirements will vary based on unit needs. Floating to other units may be required. Scrub color is navy blue. A limited number of days off are allowed upfront for contract compliance. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts up to a specified limit during the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN degree is not required.
