Behavioral Interventionist

Behavioral Intervention TeacherThe Behavioral Intervention Teacher will provide primary intervention to students who are identified as exhibiting behavioral difficulties which impede their social development and academic success. The Behavior Intervention Teacher provides consultation, coaching, one-to-one and group presentations, and classroom support, instructional and behavioral strategies for regular education teachers, special education teachers and site personnel.Reports To: Building Principal(s) and Executive Director of Special ProgramsScope of Responsibility:Provide and model behavioral interventions; train staff in effective strategies.Provides interventions and trains staff members in attendance interventions.Conducts attendance conferences with students and families.Train staff on implementing and monitoring Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), including data collection and analysis.Lead team meetings to develop BIPs and address classroom management, instruction, social-emotional learning, PBIS, and related factors.Supervise students to maintain a safe, supportive environment and provide "push-in" services to strengthen relationships and maximize instructional time.Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions.Consult with administrators, teachers, and parents on student behavior and intervention strategies.Review behavior referrals and JCampus data to provide individualized support.Manage time and schedules effectively to meet program needs.Maintain required records and documentation.Participate in ongoing professional development.Collaborate and communicate effectively with school and district personnel and families.Serve on Crisis, PBIS, and ABIT teams.Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.Skills and Qualifications:Valid Louisiana K-12 Teaching Certificate required.Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience teaching at-risk and/or behaviorally challenged students.Demonstrated skill as a teacher leader, collaborator, reflective practitioner, and student advocate.Proficient in oral, written, and digital communication in Standard English.Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with students, parents, and staff, and to accurately exchange information via telecommunication systems, in accordance with Jefferson Parish Schools policies.Willingness to work at multiple sites.Willingness to attend required trainings (e.g., Crisis Prevention Intervention, Trauma-Informed Practices) as assigned by the principal or Executive Director of Special Programs.Desirable Qualifications:Expert in function-based intervention planning to reduce problem behaviors and promote positive behaviors.Skilled in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and developing effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).Proficient in using assessment data to guide instruction and create individualized student work plans.Knowledgeable in research-based instructional strategies with demonstrated ability to implement them effectively.Able to plan, evaluate, and refine strategies to improve instruction.Teacher Job Description Addendum:In addition to the job duties and responsibilities contained in your current job description, teachers shall be expected to perform the following duties, as required under the circumstances, along with the completion of all corresponding documents, forms, and reports:Instructional Components:Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in teaching professionLesson PlansInstructionCollaborate with colleagues and departmentsGrade papers, tests, and other student workTake and record attendanceMaintain grade books; record student grades, participation, etc.Maintain positive and timely interaction with parents/guardians relative to the performance or conduct of students assigned to the teacher as well as other school related obligationsSupervision:Supervision of students when students are on or off campus at a school related or sponsored eventSupervision of students prior to school and/or drop-offSupervision of students in the classroom and in the schoolSupervision of students between classes, during recess or other breaks, during lunch, or assembliesSupervision of students after school and/or pick-upNon-instructional and Other Components:Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of studentsAttend faculty, staff, and department meetingsAttend professional development or training sessionsAttend IEP, MDR and A/BIT meetingsAttend parent-teacher conferences or other parent eventsAttend back-to-school, open house, and other eventsAttend graduationAttend PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings or hearingsAttend school board committee, regular board meetings, or special board meetings upon requestExtracurricular Activities:Attend or work at athletic or other school events during the yearAttend all meetings and functions of those activities, clubs, or groups of which the employee is a sponsorCompensation: Jefferson Parish Schools offers a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience.
