Travel RN – Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Stepdown

Assignment Details

• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Schedule: 3x12-Hour Shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly

Important Requirements

• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• At least 1 completed travel assignment is required.
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown, Intermediate Care, or PCU experience required.

Position Overview

Join a fast-paced 36-bed Intermediate Care Unit caring for a diverse patient population requiring advanced monitoring and complex nursing interventions. This unit functions as a high-acuity Med Surg/Stepdown environment with heavy telemetry and ventilator patients.

The ideal candidate is an independent clinician who thrives in a challenging environment, adapts quickly to change, and manages multiple priorities effectively.

Patient Population

• Stable & Weaning Ventilator Patients
• Tracheostomy Patients
• Sepsis
• Trauma
• Alcohol Detox
• GI Bleeds
• Colostomy & Ileostomy Patients
• Chest Tube Patients
• Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
• Orthopedic Trauma
• Spinal Cord Injuries
• Stroke Patients
• Patients Requiring Insulin Drips

Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN License
• BLS Certification (AHA or ARC)
• ACLS Certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2 Years of Recent Stepdown/IMC/PCU Experience
• Minimum 1 Prior Travel Assignment
• Ventilator Experience Required
• Tracheostomy Care Experience Required

Preferred Qualifications

• ICU Experience
• Level II Trauma Experience
• Recent EPIC Experience

Scheduling & Expectations

• Every Other Weekend Required
• Every Other Holiday Required
• No Call Requirement
• Contract runs Sunday-to-Sunday rather than Saturday-to-Saturday
• Eligible for low-census adjustments per facility policy

Floating Requirements

• Floating required to inpatient units as needed
• Typically floated to higher-acuity patient care areas
• Must be comfortable working within skill set across multiple inpatient departments
