About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years of CVICU/open heart experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with patient ratios of 2:1 - Familiarity with charting systems preferred Description: This position is for a CVICU RN working 3x12 hour nights. The candidate will care for patients post cardiac surgery, including CABG and valve replacement. Core patient diagnoses include STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, and cardiogenic shock. The role requires managing arterial lines, central lines, and ventilated patients. The nurse will administer blood products and assist with chest tube insertion and removal. Additional responsibilities include monitoring cardiac drips and managing patients in multi-organ dysfunction. Floating to lower acuity and sister units may be required. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is mandatory. The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various services. The nurse must be comfortable following infection prevention protocols. Knowledge of specific cardiac procedures and equipment is necessary. This role may involve direct post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients in a 1:1 ratio for the first 12 hours.
