Behavioral Healthcare Technician

General Description Of The Position The full-time Behavioral Healthcare Technician (BHT) I provides direct care and supportive services to patients in a behavioral health setting, ensuring a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. Working under the supervision of clinical leadership, the BHT I assists with activities of daily living, monitors patient well‑being, supports treatment planning, administers medications, and contributes to interdisciplinary care. The BHT plays a vital role in maintaining a culture of care and fostering positive behavioral and emotional outcomes for patients receiving treatment. Key Details Work shift: NOC (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) Work setting: Residential, Adult Facility Essential Functions Patient Care & Support Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) Provide personal care assistance as needed Observe and influence patient behavior positively Support the clinical team through crisis intervention, case management, and coordination of patient treatment plans Collaborate with doctors, psychologists, and rehabilitation therapists to treat, rehabilitate, and return patients to the community Medication Support & Health Monitoring Administer medications and treatments per physician prescriptions Issue medications from the dispensary and maintain records per TPEG procedures Report symptoms, reactions, and progress to the Nurse Practitioner and/or Facility manager, ensuring appropriate action Take and record measures of the patient’s physical condition using devices such as thermometers and blood pressure gauges Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well‑being and report unusual behavior or ailments to staff Document nursing observations Nutrition & Meal Preparation Inventory food, label and date opened items, organize pantry and fridge, prepare grocery orders, and monitor water and freezer temperatures Ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition, including grocery shopping and meal preparation Documentation & Communication Assist in maintaining patient records by reviewing case notes and documenting progress Communicate patient progress by participating in interdisciplinary meetings and daily briefings Professional Development & Improvement Initiate changes to improve patient care and discuss changes with doctors when appropriate Utilize educational opportunities within the facility and elsewhere to maintain clinical expertise and promote personal growth Supervision Assume responsibility and accountability, including supervision of patients in the house Environment & Safety Ensure patient safety by consistently completing safety checks Maintain a clean and sanitized environment, cleaning spills, setting up equipment, and reducing infection spread in living areas Additional Functions Perform other duties as assigned Follow and support TPEG policies and procedures Work collaboratively and cooperatively with internal and external partners Represent TPEG, Inc. by embodying the organization’s mission, vision, and values Travel occasionally during the workday and on overnight stays; compensation for mileage, food, and lodging provided Maintain regular attendance at work and company activities, demonstrating punctuality regarding deadlines Display creativity and vision in recommending new tactics and strategies Expand and update job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional learning Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Skills: Ability to multitask, manage client care, and maintain facility standards Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively Familiarity with equity and diversity initiatives Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, supervisors, clinicians, and medical/mental health professionals Make independent decisions and use initiative for complex assignments Exercise judgment and integrity with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy Organize time and resources to perform multiple tasks Complete work accurately and timely with attention to detail Provide effective team leadership and work well with others Proficiency in word processing, database, and/or spreadsheet applications Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions Recognize merit, excellence, and intelligence in staff and potential employees Valid driver’s license with clean driving record Pass DOJ Background Clearance Preferred Qualifications Medical Assisting certification, Certified Nursing Assistant certification Two years of experience in medical detox, pharmacy, SUD, behavioral/mental health, EMT, or health services setting Proficient in the English language Proficient communicator Working Conditions Work settings vary among offices, program sites, and stakeholder locations Travel may include use of company or personal transportation Salary Description: $20/hr #J-18808-Ljbffr
