Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - ICU for a critical care float position requiring 3 years of experience and float availability across ICU, PCU, MS, and ED.

Details

Critical Care Float position in a short-term acute care hospital

ICU unit with required floating to PCU, MS, and ED based on departmental needs

Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, and acute shock cases

Patient ratios of 1:2-4

Performs Cath Lab procedures, TR bands, sheath pulls, EEGs, cardioversion, and stress tests

Uses ventilators, Arctic Sun, and balloon pumps (rare use, less than 3 in the past year)

Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:30

Cerner charting system used

Required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Requirements

Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start

Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)

Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required, with strong PCU experience also considered

Prior travel nursing experience required

Cerner charting experience preferred

Skills required include IV therapy, central line care, arterial line management, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and interpretation of dysrhythmias required

Experience with Impella and IABP preferred

Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation required

2 supervisor references required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

Serves as a resource traveler floating between ICU, PCU, MS, and ED based on hospital needs

Scrub requirement: red top with black bottoms

Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position

Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler

Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents and 180 days for in-state residents
