Purpose:

The Financial Analyst will support the organization’s growth and profitability objectives by providing financial planning, analysis, compliance, reporting, and project-based support for Vanscoy Rare. The Financial Analyst will work with a variety of sources to collect and analyze complex financial information related to the organization's finances, and apply such information to drive improvements across the company, including in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, compliance, efficiency, and long-range planning. The Financial Analyst may be asked to lead or support unique projects that require financial modeling or other forms of analysis.

Responsibilities: 

• Analyze financial data and create financial models to support operational, strategic, and financial decision making at Senior Management level
• Build complex financial models and forecasts for the business as a whole, as well as for unique initiatives and projects, conducting sensitivity and scenario analysis as necessary
• Support processes associated with monthly close, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, revenue cycle management, accounting, and other day-to-day financial operations.
• Support banking management, including the processing and application of customer cash receipts and resolution of posting discrepancies, recording and review of daily banking transactions, 
• Support the administration of financial compliance frameworks, including SOC1 and financial statement audits, maintenance of control narratives, support of control management, and management of communications with key stakeholders
• Collect, review, validate, and upload evidence associated with financial compliance frameworks, providing support to other departments responsible for complying with financial controls 
• Perform periodic internal control reviews and identify documentation or process gaps
• Collaborate with department leaders to develop and periodically restate budgets for the organization
• Participate in monthly close and variance analysis processes to assess financial performance against plans and expectations, investigating variances with other departments as requested
• Develop short- and long-term financial forecasts
• Create, maintain, and update financial statements, databases and spreadsheets, and generates various financial reports as required
• Track various financial key indicators (KPIs) and objectives. Analyze trends in KPIs.
• Periodically distribute data with analysis to Senior Leadership team
• Navigate the company’s ERP system to collect and analyze financial data
• Collaborate with departments to develop financial efficiencies and process improvements within the team’s work streams
• Lead special projects to improve reporting, analytical tools and internal processes to enhance management decision making
• Conduct data gathering to support financial analysis initiatives.
• Gain a holistic understanding of Vanscoy Rare’s financial environment, as well as that of associated companies, so as to provide insights and recommendations
• Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 1+ years of relevant experience
• 1+ years in building and presenting financial models
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables
• Enterprise Resource Planning experience
• Skilled in the use of report writing in an ERP system
• Proficient at building financial models
• Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures, with ability to train others 
• Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.
• Thorough understanding of project management
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently 
• Strong numeracy and analytical skills
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as with accounting software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced finance-related degree or certification
• SQL, Snowflake, or other data-related experience
• Desire to continue to grow through continuing training and increase responsibilities
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with good organization skills

 

Work Environment

Vanscoy Rare offers a hybrid work structure, combining remote work and in-office requirements. The frequency of onsite requirements will vary depending on role, operational needs, meetings, client visits, or team collaboration activities. Employees must be within commuting distance to Pittsburgh, PA, and able to report to the office when needed. We will provide advance notice when possible. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. When telecommuting, employees must have reliable internet access to utilize required systems and software required for the position's responsibilities. The amount of time the employee is expected to work per day or pay period will not change while working from home. Employees are responsible for the set-up of their home office environment, including physical set-up, internet connection, phone line, electricity, lighting, comfortable temperature, furniture, etc. Employee’s teleworking space should be separate and distinct from their “home space” and allow for privacy.
